1.Delete your account in the app
This page explains how to delete your Relay RoIP account and the personal data linked to it. It applies to the Relay web console at app.relayroip.co.za and to the Relay RoIP mobile apps. Relay is operated by Eyona Software Development (Pty) Ltd, based in Cape Town, South Africa.
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from inside Relay. It takes effect immediately.
- Sign in to Relay, in the Relay RoIP app or on the web.
- Open Profile. On a phone, tap More and then Profile. On a computer, click your initials at the top right and then Profile.
- Tap Delete my account. Relay shows what is deleted and what stays.
- Enter your password and tap Delete my account to confirm.
You are signed out on every phone and computer, and the account can never sign in again. If you are a super admin, or the only admin of an organisation that still has other users, Relay asks you to hand admin over first and tells you how.
2.If you cannot sign in
If you can no longer sign in, ask us by email instead. You do not need to be able to sign in to make a request.
- Email info@eyonasoftware.co.za with the subject line "Delete my Relay account".
- Send it from the email address your Relay account uses. If you cannot, include that email address and the name of your organisation so we can verify who you are.
- Tell us whether you want your whole account deleted, or only specific data removed, for example your recorded audio.
Email info@eyonasoftware.co.za
3.What Relay holds about you
- Account and sign-in: your full name, your email address, a one-way hash of your password, your role, and the Relay network your account belongs to.
- Audio you transmitted: recorded clips of your push-to-talk transmissions, on channels where your organisation had recording switched on, with the time, length and channel of each.
- Channel membership: which channels you were a member of and in what role.
- Audit trail: a tamper-evident record of significant actions taken in the platform, including who performed them, when, and the IP address the request came from.
- Sign-in security records: successful and failed sign-in attempts with the email address used and the IP address.
Relay does not hold your location, your contacts, your photos or any advertising identifier. The app never asks for them.
4.What gets deleted
When you delete your account in the app, or we process a verified emailed request, Relay:
- Removes your name, your email address and your password from your account. Anything that still refers to the account shows "Deleted user".
- Removes your access to every Relay network and every channel you belonged to.
- Ends your sign-in on every device.
- Deletes your notification settings and your sign-in security records.
Your email address is released. If an organisation invites you again later, you join as a new user.
5.What is retained, and why
A limited amount of data survives a deletion, only where we are required to keep it or where it belongs to your organisation rather than to you personally:
- Recorded audio, for at most 90 days. Recordings on a channel belong to the organisation that operates that channel, in the same way a call recording belongs to the business that made it. They are not deleted with your account; they expire under the retention limit, which is never longer than 90 days, and are then deleted automatically together with their audio files.
- The audit trail, kept for 365 days by default. Relay's audit log is deliberately tamper-evident: each entry is cryptographically linked to the one before it, which is exactly why customers rely on it. We therefore do not change or delete entries in it. Entries that point at your account now show "Deleted user". Some entries also record the email address an action concerned at the time, for example an invite that was sent to you; those are not rewritten either, and they expire with the rest of the audit trail. Your organisation can set a shorter audit retention period.
- Records we must keep by law, for as long as the law requires and no longer.
If your organisation itself asks us to delete its entire Relay network, everything above goes with it, subject only to legal retention.
6.How long it takes
In the app, deletion is immediate. For emailed requests we acknowledge within 7 days and complete verified requests within 30 days. If a legal obligation requires us to keep specific records for longer, we will tell you which data that applies to and for how long.
Recorded audio expires on its own regardless: the platform never keeps a recording longer than 90 days, and deletes both the recording and its audio file automatically when it expires.
